About Us

Ninemaidens Mead was established in 1999 by Carole Allen & Mick Jordan.

Both being experienced bee keepers, they recognised that they were perfectly placed to create a high quality Traditional Mead from Cornwall using Genuine Cornish Honey crop that they regularly produced.

With Carole’s background in brewing fruit and country wine together with Mick’s career in engineering, they were able to combine their talents to set up their own fully functional microbrewery in the heart of the Cornish countryside. By 2004 they had won national awards for their Traditional Mead & Spiced Mead as well as receiving plaudits from correspondent Andrew Marr writing in Esquire magazine. Since these early successes the business has continued to grow and yet they remain pledged to their founding principles of retaining high quality and provenance.

Their experience and working knowledge of honey production has led to both Carole & Mick holding senior positions within the established trade organisations; Carole being the current chair of Cornwall Beekeepers Association and Mick being nominated as the Bee Farmers Association South West Regional Representative.

“You can get good commercial meads, from producers such as the excellently named Ninemaidens Mead of Cornwall…” Andrew Marr writing in ‘Esquire’ magazine
